Ignatian Spiritual Direction
Description: This course guides students through a more focused exploration of an Ignatian character and style of spiritual direction, founded in Ignatius’ life and spiritual legacy.
Outcomes: Having fully engaged with this class, students will be able to (1) discuss key characteristics of Ignatian spirituality and spiritual direction, (2) relate key characteristics of Ignatian spirituality and spiritual direction to the life and legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, (3) apply key characteristics of Ignatian spirituality and practice to one’s own practice of spirituality and direction and (4) begin to evaluate when and how to draw from Ignatian approaches in spiritual direction.
Format: A self-paced “four-week” class consisting of four 10- to 20-minute instructional videos, each paired with integrative-reflective writing assignments and bi-weekly calls with a course mentor.
Supplementary reading: Selections from various authors provided, 96 pp. assigned.
